- I have been asked how to set up more than one ISP on the Amiga. So
- here is a quick article on how to set this up using Genesis.
-
- I have three ISP's set up on Genesis:
-
- 1) This is my back up ISP Ukonline, as my first one is BTInternet
- which I use Miami for. But as all ISP's will have problems from time
- to time, it's always handy to have a backup.
-
- 2) This one is for@2 The Crypt@5 web site.
-
- 3) This one is for a spare site that I use incase anything happens to
- @2 The Crypt@5 main web site, then I can easily point the URL to the back
- up site.

- Genesis Wizard
- @5
- For this article I will presume you have one ISP already set up.
-
- So how do we put another ISP on Genesis?
-
- Start up Genesis Wizard:
-
- Click on @1"Next".
- @5
- As most people use a modem to connect to the internet, highlight the
- @1 "Use a modem"@5 button.
-
- Now comes the important bit. The Wizard should have picked up the
- fact that you've already got one account set up, so a new box will
- appear saying @1"Genesis Wizard found that you've already configured a
- modem previously, Would you like to reuse it or would you like to
- specify a new modem?"@5
-
- Click on @1"Reuse".
- @5
- Here you will need to put in your new user name, the password for
- that account and the new phone number.
-
-
-
-
-

- Then click on @1"Next".
- @5
- It will then ask you for @1"The protocol"@5, leave it on @1"ppp"@5. Also it
- asks if you require a @1"login script?"@5, put as @1 "No, go online
- immediately".
- @5
- Click on @1"Next".
- @5
- Then we get to the clever bit where Genesis dials up the new ISP and
- get all the info it needs to make the connection. So click on@1 "Dial
- (F1)".
- @5
- If all goes as planed and you have put in the correct info, it will
- save the new config file.

- Personalising Genesis
- @5
- Now you have two ISP's on Genesis, we need to change a couple of
- things to make it easier for you in the future.
-
- Start up Genesis:
-
- Press the right mouse button and go to@1 "Settings/Genesis"@5 in the
- menu.
-
- A window should open called @1"Genesis prefs"
- @5
- Go to @1"Interfaces"@5 and you should see all your ISP accounts listed.
-
- To make it easier when you want to dial up, click on one of the
- accounts and press @1"edit"
- @5
- Where it says @1"Name"@5 there should be@1 "PPP"@5 or@1 "PPP1"@5, just change the
- name to whatever your account is (IE: my ppp is renamed Ukonline)
- Click on@1 "Okay"@5. And repeat for the other accounts.
-
- When you've finished, press @1"Save".
-

- Using Genesis
- @5
- Now you have more than one ISP set up, how do you use it?
- .....Simple!
-
- Starting up Genesis, you will notice two lists of names. Just match
- the user name to the ISP and press @1"Connect"@5. .....That's it.
- Genesis will now connect you to whatever ISP you wish.
-
- All you have to do for other ISP's is just repeat the same steps to
- have as many as you want.
-
- If anyone wants to know how to have multiple ISP's on Miami, write
- into@2 The Crypt@5 and we will feature it in a future issue.
